CHECKING REQUIREMENTS / CABIN CREW CLASS

Cabin Crew Requirements: How to Check Airline Criteria

Do not start with one requirements list for every airline. Find the right source, understand its scope and record both what is clear and what still needs asking.

Sources and editorial scope

Find → Scope → Verify → Record → Prepare

Cabin crew requirements can differ by airline, role, employing entity, work base, recruitment market, campaign and publication date. Requirements set by a school or preparation class also do not replace an airline's recruitment criteria.

Use the five steps below for one vacancy you are considering. The aim is to produce a traceable record, rather than an automatic verdict that you meet every requirement.

1 / Find

Start with the airline's official website, its careers section and the official vacancy or event information. Confirm that the application portal is linked from an official channel.

2 / Scope

Record the airline and entity if named, role title, vacancy number, base, recruitment market and source date. An interview location is not automatically the work base.

3 / Verify

Read the relevant requirements, application instructions and official invitation. Distinguish written facts, your own conclusions and information that has not been published.

4 / Record

Save the URL, important wording, the date you checked and unanswered questions. Do not fill in a publication date if the source does not show one.

5 / Prepare

Prepare documents and practice using confirmed information. Recheck the source before applying; do not rely only on old notes.

Age and education: read requirements with their scope

Record the limits actually stated, when they apply if explained, and the qualification names used by the source. Do not translate a qualification into a claim that it is definitely equivalent to yours without relevant confirmation.

The two examples below show why figures and education terms must not be transferred from one airline or market to another. They are extracts of criteria, rather than complete lists or confirmation of your eligibility.

Two official examples to practise reading sources

Sources were checked on 23 September 2026. A publication date was not displayed in the sections checked; this check date does not replace it. Read the official pages again for the full instructions.

Emirates — general Cabin Crew page

Dubai base; published examples include a minimum age of 21, Grade 12 education, a minimum height of 160 cm and a reach of 212 cm. Written and spoken English, UAE employment visa requirements and no tattoos visible in uniform are also mentioned.

Singapore Airlines — Cabin Crew (Singapore)

Singapore interview scope: minimum age 18; height of 1.58 m for women and 1.65 m for men; five GCE O Level credits including English or Higher Nitec and above; English communication skills. This does not confirm qualification equivalence or market access for every Indonesian applicant.

Height differs from arm reach

Height measures how tall your body is, while arm reach refers to how far you can reach using the recruiter's specified measurement method. Do not assume a height figure can replace a reach figure or vice versa.

In the Emirates example, the source mentions both measurements. In the Singapore Airlines vacancy above, the source mentions height, while an arm-reach figure is not stated in the source checked. This does not prove there will be no reach assessment at another stage. Do not guess whether measurements involve footwear or standing on tiptoe if the instructions do not explain this.

Language, passports and work eligibility

Separate language ability from the evidence requested. If a vacancy mentions English proficiency without naming a test or score, do not add an IELTS, TOEFL or other threshold yourself. In the Singapore Airlines example, a specific language-test score is not stated in the source checked.

Check when passports or identity documents are requested and whether validity conditions apply. Employment visa, nationality or work-authorisation requirements must be read for the relevant role and country. This guide does not determine anyone's immigration or work-authorisation eligibility.

If information differs between the application stage and the stage before joining, record both. Ask through official channels which applies to your situation; do not conclude that a document is unnecessary simply because it was not requested at the start.

Tattoos, braces, glasses and swimming: retain the uncertainty

These questions are often combined into general rules. Check each one in the same vacancy source. Preserve its wording and context; do not expand a rule about visible tattoos into new rules about every physical condition.

The Cabin Crew (Singapore) vacancy checked did not state rules about tattoos, braces, glasses or swimming ability. Record ‘not stated in the source checked’, then seek clarification through official channels if relevant. A source's silence is neither permission nor a prohibition.

Do not change or stop treatment based on internet comments or this guide. For health questions, seek relevant professional guidance and follow the airline's official process.

Cabin Crew Class source-verification worksheet

Cabin Crew Class educational material. Copy this table into your personal notes and complete it for one vacancy only. Replace each cell's instructions with your findings; do not treat the prompts as requirements. On smaller screens, the table scrolls horizontally.

Before completing it: airline / entity: ____; role title / number: ____; base: ____; market / campaign: ____; publication date if available: ____. If a field is not stated, record that.

When information conflicts or a source is unclear

Check whether both pages discuss the same role, market and stage. Compare dates where available. Do not combine an old event's requirements with a new vacancy to create your own rule.

Use the contact or support channel listed on the careers website or official invitation. A useful question identifies the role title or number, URL, confusing section and specific point needing confirmation. Avoid sending identity details or sensitive documents to unverified accounts.

Practice question: ‘I am reading the education section of vacancy [title/number] at [URL]. Is there official guidance for checking qualifications from my country?’ Do not supply an answer on the airline's behalf.

TikTok comments, old blogs, a friend's experience and class content can prompt questions, but they are not the final decision on applicable rules. If there is no official answer yet, retain the note ‘unconfirmed’.

From notes to preparation steps

Group your notes into: clear, documents needed and confirmation needed. Work on what you can prepare without changing the facts. Check the opportunity's status and official source again before applying.

Career Hub helps you explore job listings and their source links. A listing's status does not replace direct confirmation on the airline's website. This article does not use old vacancies as evidence that criteria still apply.

SOURCES & EDITORIAL SCOPE

Sources checked

Recheck changing facts before applying. Practice and examples are CCC educational material, rather than official airline selection material.

Review policy: Reviewed monthly and after material changes to airline criteria become known. A source-check date is not a publication date or approval by a human reviewer.

NEXT STEP

After understanding the instructions, choose relevant practice

If you need practice explaining your experience and answering questions, explore Interview Preparation. Taking a class is not a requirement for applying and does not change airline criteria.
